Adapted for stage by Ken Ludwig, Murder on the Orient Express was originally staged by McCarter Theater Center, Princeton, NJ (Emily Mann, Artistic Director, Timothy J. Shields, Managing Director) The production subsequently transferred to Hartford Stage, Hartford, CT (Darko Tresnjak, Artistic Director, Michael Stotts, Managing Director).
SUMMARY
The luxurious and famous Orient Express is on its way from Istanbul to Paris. The train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, and holds a number of important guests, including the infamous detective Hercule Poirot.
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The passengers are very upset as they all have important business and need to arrive at their destination; however one passenger is not destined to do so. An American is found dead in his compartment - murdered in a violent and gruesome attack.
Fearing that the murderer is still on the train and that he or she may strike again before arriving at the final destination, Hercule Poirot is forced to investigate the case.
Brilliantly acted by this versatile cast, Murder on the Orient Express is sure to captivate audiences as the plot takes them on twists and turns through one of Christie's greatest mysteries.
